Sweet and festive sugar cookies decorated for Valentine’s Day.
Ingredients

- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 to 4 cups royal icing for decoration
- Food coloring (red, pink)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until combined.
- Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden.
- Let cookies cool completely before decorating.
- Use royal icing and food coloring to decorate as desired.

- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Use different shapes for a fun variety.
- Let icing dry completely before stacking cookies.
