Ingredients

  • Food coloring (red or pink)
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for filling)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Whisk almond flour and powdered sugar together.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
  4. Gradually add granulated sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold in the almond flour mixture and food coloring.
  6. Pipe small circles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Let them sit for 30 minutes to form a skin.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  9. Let cool completely before filling.
  10. Mix butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla for the filling.
  11. Spread filling between two macarons to assemble.
