Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 2 cups turkey broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  4. Season the turkey inside and out with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
  5. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour turkey broth into the bottom of the pan.
  6. Cover the turkey with foil and roast for about 2.5 to 3 hours.
  7. Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to allow the skin to brown.
  8. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
