- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey.
- Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Rub the butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt and pepper.
- Place the onion, carrots, celery, and herbs inside the turkey cavity.
- Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
- Pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Roast the turkey, basting every 30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Let the turkey come to room temperature before roasting.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
