Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 sheets nori
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 4 ounces crab meat
  • Soy sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Cook rice with water in a rice cooker or pot according to package instructions.
  3. Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved.
  4. Once rice is cooked, transfer to a bowl and mix in the vinegar mixture.
  5. Allow rice to cool to room temperature.
  6. Cut nori sheets into heart shapes using a template or scissors.
  7. Place a small amount of rice on each nori heart.
  8. Top rice with avocado, cucumber, and crab meat.
  9. Fold nori over fillings and shape into hearts.
  10. Serve with soy sauce.
