Description

Snickerdoodle cookies are soft, chewy treats rolled in cinnamon sugar.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light.
  4. Add eggs and mix well.
  5. Gradually add flour mixture to the wet ingredients.
  6. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Shape dough into balls, roll in cinnamon sugar, and place on baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are set.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container.
  • For chewier cookies, under-bake slightly.
  • Can substitute butter with margarine.
