- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Rinse the black eyed peas and remove any debris.
- In the slow cooker, combine black eyed peas, water, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and bay leaf.
- Drizzle olive oil over the mixture.
- Stir to combine all ingredients.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until peas are tender.
- Remove bay leaf before serving.

- Soaking peas overnight can reduce cooking time.
- Add ham or bacon for extra flavor.
