Description

A simple and hearty dish made with pork and sauerkraut cooked in a crockpot.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 jar (32 ounces) sauerkraut
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 apples, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
  2. Place the sliced onion at the bottom of the crockpot.
  3. Layer the sauerkraut over the onions.
  4. Add the sliced apples and caraway seeds on top.
  5. Pour the chicken broth over the mixture.
  6. Place the seasoned pork on top.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  8. Shred the pork before serving and mix with the sauerkraut.

Notes

  • Serve with mashed potatoes or bread.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
