Description
A simple and hearty dish made with pork and sauerkraut cooked in a crockpot.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds pork shoulder
- 1 jar (32 ounces) sauerkraut
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 apples, sliced
- 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
- 1 cup chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
- Place the sliced onion at the bottom of the crockpot.
- Layer the sauerkraut over the onions.
- Add the sliced apples and caraway seeds on top.
- Pour the chicken broth over the mixture.
- Place the seasoned pork on top.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
- Shred the pork before serving and mix with the sauerkraut.
Notes
- Serve with mashed potatoes or bread.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
