Description

Delicious molasses thumbprint cookies filled with sweet jam.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup jam or jelly for filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream butter and brown sugar.
  3. Add molasses and egg yolk; mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and spices.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture.
  6. Form dough into balls and place on baking sheet.
  7. Make an indentation in each ball with your thumb.
  8. Fill each indentation with jam.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  10. Cool on wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container.
  • Use any jam flavor you prefer.
