Ingredients

- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- For frosting: 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy.
- Add eggs, milk, and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and combine.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For the frosting, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Once cakes are completely cool, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides.
Notes
- You can add food coloring to the frosting for a pop of color.
- Decorate with fresh berries or edible flowers for a special touch.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
