A simple and elegant cake perfect for Valentine’s Day.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • For frosting: 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy.
  5. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and combine.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  10. For the frosting, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  11. Once cakes are completely cool, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides.

Notes

  • You can add food coloring to the frosting for a pop of color.
  • Decorate with fresh berries or edible flowers for a special touch.
