Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Royal icing for decoration
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until creamy.
  4. Add egg, molasses, and vanilla to the butter mixture, and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  6. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
  8. Place cookies on baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  9. Let the cookies cool completely.
  10. Decorate with royal icing and sprinkles.
