A delicious dessert made with creamy vanilla custard layered between squares of pastry.
Ingredients

- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into squares.
- Place the squares on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes until golden.
- In a saucepan, mix milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring until thickened.
- Whisk egg yolks in a bowl and slowly add the hot mixture.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Let the custard cool.
- Layer the custard between the baked pastry squares.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Chill the custard for better texture.
- Use fresh vanilla beans for richer flavor.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
