Description

A delicious dessert made with creamy vanilla custard layered between squares of pastry.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into squares.
  3. Place the squares on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes until golden.
  4. In a saucepan, mix milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  5. Heat over medium heat, stirring until thickened.
  6. Whisk egg yolks in a bowl and slowly add the hot mixture.
  7. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook for 2 more minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  9. Let the custard cool.
  10. Layer the custard between the baked pastry squares.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
