Description

Delicious turtle caramel cake with layers of chocolate cake, caramel, and pecans.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in boiling water until well combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes in pans, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Layer the cakes with caramel sauce and chopped pecans.
  10. Drizzle remaining caramel on top before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • You can use store-bought caramel sauce.
  • Optional: add whipped cream on top before serving.
