- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 1 onion, quartered
- 4 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, mix the butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, thyme, and sage.
- Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Stuff the cavity with lemon and onion.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Cover the turkey with aluminum foil.
- Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for about 3 hours.
- Remove foil and roast for an additional 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

- Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
- Letting the turkey rest helps keep it juicy.
