  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 2 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  4. Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
  5. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  6. Cover the turkey with aluminum foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  7. Remove the foil in the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
  8. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
  9. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
