Thanksgiving meal prep for a festive gathering.
Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Butter – 1 cup
- Salt – 2 tablespoons
- Pepper – 1 teaspoon
- Garlic – 4 cloves, minced
- Onion – 2, chopped
- Carrots – 4, diced
- Celery – 4 stalks, diced
- Chicken broth – 4 cups
- Stuffing mix – 1 box
- Green beans – 1 lb
- Cranberry sauce – 2 cups
- Pumpkin pie – 1, pre-made
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by patting it dry and rubbing butter, salt, and pepper all over.
- Stuff the turkey cavity with chopped onion, garlic, carrots, and celery.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Cover with foil and roast for 3 hours, removing the foil for the last hour.
- Cook the stuffing according to package instructions.
- Steam the green beans until tender.
- Serve the turkey with stuffing, green beans, and cranberry sauce.
- Finish the meal with a slice of pumpkin pie.
Notes
- Prepare the turkey a day in advance for easier cooking.
- Make sure to let the turkey rest before carving.
- Use leftover turkey for sandwiches or soups.
