- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey from packaging and pat dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt and pepper.
- Place the onion, carrots, celery, rosemary, and thyme inside the turkey cavity.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Roast the turkey for about 3 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Brining the turkey overnight can add flavor and moisture.
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking temperature.
- Cover the turkey with foil if it starts to brown too quickly.
