- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Cover the turkey loosely with foil.
- Roast for about 2.5 to 3 hours, basting occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes for a golden skin.
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for best results.
- Keep leftover turkey in the fridge for up to 4 days.
- Consider making a gravy with the drippings.
