Stuffed turkey for Thanksgiving is a traditional dish that features a whole turkey filled with a savory stuffing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 2 cups bread cubes
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onion and celery until soft.
  3. In a bowl, combine bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add chicken broth gradually until the mixture is moist but not soggy.
  5. Stuff the turkey cavity with the stuffing mixture.
  6. Place the turkey on a roasting pan and cover with foil.
  7. Roast the turkey for about 3-4 hours, removing the foil in the last hour to brown the skin.
  8. Check the internal temperature to reach 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.

Notes

  • You can add fruits or nuts to the stuffing for extra flavor.
