Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Cornbread – 1 batch, crumbled
- Celery – 4 stalks, diced
- Onion – 1 large, diced
- Chicken broth – 4 cups
- Butter – 1 cup, melted
- Sage – 2 tsp, dried
- Thyme – 1 tsp, dried
- Black pepper – 1 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Green beans – 2 lbs
- Potatoes – 5 lbs
- Milk – 1 cup
- Butter – ½ cup
- Pumpkin pie – 1 (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Prepare the turkey by seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Make cornbread stuffing by mixing crumbled cornbread, diced celery, diced onion, melted butter, sage, thyme, and chicken broth.
- Stuff the turkey with the cornbread mixture and place in a roasting pan.
- Roast turkey for 3-4 hours, basting occasionally.
- While turkey roasts, boil potatoes until tender, then mash with milk and butter.
- Steam green beans until bright green and tender.
- Serve turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and green beans.
- Finish the meal with a slice of pumpkin pie.
