Ingredients

- 4 pieces of fish fillets (such as catfish or tilapia)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Soak the fish fillets in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Dredge each fish fillet in the cornmeal mixture, coating evenly.
- Fry the fish for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add cayenne pepper to the coating mix.
- Ensure oil is hot enough before frying to avoid soggy fish.
- Pair with tartar sauce or lemon wedges for serving.
