A flavorful smoked turkey recipe perfect for Thanksgiving.
Ingredients

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 4 cups applewood chips (for smoking)
Instructions
- Prepare the turkey by removing giblets and patting it dry.
- Rub the turkey with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
- Let the turkey sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Soak applewood chips in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
- Preheat the smoker to 225°F (107°C).
- Place the soaked wood chips in the smoker box.
- Put the turkey in the smoker and smoke for about 30 minutes per pound.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part.
- Remove the turkey from the smoker and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Brining the turkey overnight can enhance flavor.
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
