Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, ginger, and pepper.
  3. Pour sauce over chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  5. Remove chicken, and set aside.
  6. Mix cornstarch and water, then stir into the sauce in the slow cooker.
  7. Cook on high for 15 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  8. Serve chicken with the sauce over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
  • For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes.
  • Use boneless chicken thighs for a richer flavor.
