  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
  4. Rub the olive oil all over the turkey.
  5. Season the turkey inside and out with the spice mixture.
  6. Stuff the cavity with lemon halves and onion quarters.
  7. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and add chicken broth to the pan.
  8. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  9. Roast the turkey for 2.5 to 3 hours, removing the foil for the last hour.
  10. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
  11. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
