A simple and delicious roast turkey recipe perfect for Thanksgiving.

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups chopped vegetables (carrots, celery, onion)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey from the packaging and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, mix the butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
- Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey and under the skin.
- Place chopped vegetables in the bottom of a roasting pan.
- Put the turkey on top of the vegetables in the pan.
- Pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Make sure the turkey is fully thawed before cooking.
- Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
