One of the very best Salisbury steak recipes, a comforting classic.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Form mixture into four patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
- Remove patties and set aside.
- Add beef broth to the skillet.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water; add to skillet.
- Stir in ketchup and return patties to the skillet.
- Simmer for 10 minutes until sauce thickens.
Notes
- Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
- Can add mushrooms for extra flavor.
