A classic dessert featuring layers of creamy pudding, bananas, and vanilla wafers.
Ingredients

- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 ripe bananas
- 1 box vanilla wafers
Instructions
- In a saucepan, mix milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks.
- Gradually add a small amount of the hot mixture to the egg yolks, then return to the saucepan.
- Add butter and vanilla, stir until combined.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a serving dish, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding.
- Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- Use ripe bananas for best flavor.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
- Can be topped with whipped cream if desired.
