Description

Mozzarella stuffed soft pretzels are delicious baked snacks filled with gooey cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  6. Divide the dough into 12 pieces. Flatten each piece and place a cube of mozzarella in the center.
  7. Wrap the dough around the cheese and shape into a pretzel.
  8. In a pot, boil water and baking soda. Dip each pretzel in the solution for 30 seconds.
  9. Place the pretzels on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • You can use other cheeses if desired.
