Description
Mozzarella stuffed soft pretzels are delicious baked snacks filled with gooey cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- Coarse sea salt for topping
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Divide the dough into 12 pieces. Flatten each piece and place a cube of mozzarella in the center.
- Wrap the dough around the cheese and shape into a pretzel.
- In a pot, boil water and baking soda. Dip each pretzel in the solution for 30 seconds.
- Place the pretzels on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- You can use other cheeses if desired.
