- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
- Rub the turkey with butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Stuff the turkey cavity with fresh herbs.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Cover with foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Brine the turkey overnight for extra flavor.
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Save the bones for making stock.
