Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a bundt pan.
- In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with buttermilk.
- Pour batter into the prepared bundt pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the butter sauce by melting 1 cup butter, 2 cups sugar, and 1 cup water in a saucepan.
- Once the cake is done, let it cool for 10 minutes, then poke holes in it and pour the sauce over the cake.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add lemon zest to the batter.
- Serve with whipped cream or fresh berries.
