Ingredients

- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon ghee
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 cup mixed vegetables
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Rinse basmati rice under cold water until water runs clear.
- In a pot, heat ghee over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and mixed vegetables; cook for 5 minutes.
- Add rinsed rice, water, garam masala, and salt; stir well.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
- Cook for 15 minutes or until rice is fluffy.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Fluff with a fork and serve hot.
Notes
- This dish pairs well with curry.
- You can use any vegetables of your choice.
