- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 cups chicken broth
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey from packaging and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Place fresh herbs inside the turkey cavity.
- Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the roasting pan.
- Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Remove the foil and roast for an additional 30-60 minutes until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Make sure the turkey is completely thawed before cooking.
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
- Brining the turkey beforehand can enhance flavor and moisture.
