- 1 turkey (12-14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 cups chopped vegetables (carrots, celery, onion)
- 1 tablespoon fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Season the turkey inside and out with salt and pepper.
- Stuff the cavity with chopped vegetables and herbs.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom.
- Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, basting occasionally.
- Remove the foil for the last 30 to 45 minutes to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

- Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
- Let the turkey come to room temperature before cooking.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
