Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  4. Season the turkey inside and out with salt and pepper.
  5. Stuff the cavity with chopped vegetables and herbs.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom.
  7. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  8. Roast in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, basting occasionally.
  9. Remove the foil for the last 30 to 45 minutes to brown the skin.
  10. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
  11. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
