- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 4 cups turkey broth
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 2 cups stuffing (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey from packaging and pat dry.
- Rub the turkey with softened butter, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the turkey with onion, lemon, and stuffing if desired.
- Place the turkey breast side up on a roasting rack.
- Pour turkey broth into the roasting pan.
- Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
- Roast for 13-15 minutes per pound.
- Remove foil during the last hour to brown the skin.
- Check internal temperature; it should be 165°F (74°C).
- Let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

- Let the turkey come to room temperature before cooking.
