A hearty and comforting casserole featuring layers of hamburger, potatoes, and cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 4 cups sliced potatoes
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef with the diced onion in a skillet.
  3. Drain excess fat from the beef.
  4. In a large bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup and milk.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased casserole dish.
  6. Add half of the meat mixture on top of the potatoes.
  7. Pour half of the soup mixture over the meat.
  8. Sprinkle half of the cheese over the soup.
  9. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
  11. Bake for 1 hour, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  12. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

  • For extra flavor, add garlic powder or herbs.
  • Use different types of cheese for variety.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
