Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Butter – 1 cup, softened
- Salt – 2 tablespoons
- Pepper – 1 tablespoon
- Garlic – 4 cloves, minced
- Onion – 1 large, quartered
- Carrots – 2, chopped
- Celery – 2 stalks, chopped
- Chicken broth – 4 cups
- Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage) – 1 bunch
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Rinse the turkey and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Rub the turkey with softened butter, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the cavity with garlic, onion, carrots, celery, and herbs.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2-3 hours.
- Remove the foil and roast for an additional 30-60 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Check the turkey’s internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Letting it rest helps retain juices.
- Serve with your favorite sides like stuffing and cranberry sauce.
