Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Butter – 1 cup
- Garlic – 4 cloves
- Onions – 2 large
- Carrots – 3 medium
- Celery – 3 stalks
- Salt – 2 tsp
- Pepper – 1 tsp
- Thyme – 1 tsp
- Rosemary – 1 tsp
- Chicken broth – 4 cups
- Stuffing – 1 box (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and rinsing it under cold water.
- Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Rub butter all over the turkey.
- Season with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
- Place chopped garlic, onions, carrots, and celery inside the turkey cavity.
- Put the turkey in a roasting pan and cover it with foil.
- Roast in the oven for about 3 hours, basting every hour.
- If using stuffing, add it about 30 minutes before the turkey is done.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- You can use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
- Make sure to allow enough time for thawing if using a frozen turkey.
