Ingredients

  • Butter – 1 cup
  • Garlic – 4 cloves
  • Onions – 2 large
  • Carrots – 3 medium
  • Celery – 3 stalks
  • Salt – 2 tsp
  • Pepper – 1 tsp
  • Thyme – 1 tsp
  • Rosemary – 1 tsp
  • Chicken broth – 4 cups
  • Stuffing – 1 box (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and rinsing it under cold water.
  3. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  4. Rub butter all over the turkey.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
  6. Place chopped garlic, onions, carrots, and celery inside the turkey cavity.
  7. Put the turkey in a roasting pan and cover it with foil.
  8. Roast in the oven for about 3 hours, basting every hour.
  9. If using stuffing, add it about 30 minutes before the turkey is done.
  10. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
  11. Let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.

  • You can use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
  • Save the drippings for gravy.
  • Make sure to allow enough time for thawing if using a frozen turkey.
