A rich butter rub to enhance the flavor of your Thanksgiving turkey.
Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 lemon, zested
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- In a bowl, mix softened butter with rosemary, thyme, sage, garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon zest.
- Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Gently lift the skin of the turkey and spread the butter mixture under the skin.
- Rub the remaining butter mixture over the outside of the turkey.
- Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
- Roast the turkey in the preheated oven until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use fresh herbs for best flavor.
- Make the butter rub a day in advance for stronger flavor.
- Save drippings for gravy.
