Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 gallon water
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon thyme

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine water, salt, and brown sugar. Heat until dissolved.
  2. Add peppercorns, bay leaves, garlic, and thyme. Let cool.
  3. Place the turkey in a large container and pour the brine over it.
  4. Refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours.
  5. Remove turkey from brine, rinse, and pat dry before cooking.
