Description

Bomboloni are Italian donuts, soft and fluffy, filled with sweet cream or jam.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 packet of active dry yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Filling of choice (cream, jam)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, sugar, eggs, melted butter, and salt. Knead the dough until smooth.
  3. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut into circles.
  5. Place filling in the center of half the circles and top with remaining circles.
  6. Seal the edges well and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry the donuts until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar.
